I would say make your own baskets (she did mini spa packets and then big baskets with prize themes like movie night, spa day, wine and chocolate, etc.) as those can be tailored so people actually want them. Though I can't remember mine, but she just threw my SIL one. If no exact guess, it was done price is right style- closest without going over- winner takes all (we paypaled the winner since she was out of state). They also organized a betting calendar on when she'd have her (ended up being almost a month early). Came out really nice, so at the baby's first Christmas, that's what she got.
I then scanned in every page and had Shutterfly (I think? It's been 4 years) print a hardcover book of them. Some of them were pretty terrible but they were all signed so it made for some good laughs for the parents I bet. People chose a letter, drew something that corresponds to that letter, and then wrote it on the lines underneath kindergarten style (like this except just one set of lines and they had 2/3rds of the page to draw). Plus, lots of great conversation starters once the game is over.Īt my sister's shower, I printed out template pages for an alphabet book. Plus, men and inexperienced moms (myself included) give the best explanations of random gifts which make for funny moments, “ohhh nipple soothers, awesome.”Īll-in-all it doesn’t take any longer then when Mom just sits down and plows through all the gifts, and people get to know each other and feel more friendly/familiar. We have had some hilarious stories told, great memories shared, and it gets everyone involved. The fun part is that before that person opens the gift in front of them, they tell a story about how they know the couple/Mom/Dad (whatever).
Whoever’s gift they opened, goes next.I have hosted 3 of my best friend’s baby shower and one “game” I suggested that was a huge hit had to do with the gift opening. (Bring a pack of diapers and be entered to win a gift basket). At least thats what i appreciate most? I swear its not just the pregnancy talking. Any other ideas? Bonus points if it fits my outer space themeĪlso, not sucky game prizes for an outer space theme? My party favors are going to be moon pies, with cheesy little notes saying we were over the moon to have you here (honestly i hate myself) and i like favors and prizes that are edible because i feel like they're the most appreciated. I'm thinking the string game (how fat do my friends really think i am? Mwuhahaha) and baby jeopardy. So give me your best baby shower games that don't suck? Of course the games i really want to play would probably offend my inlaws (porn or labor, and pin the sperm on the egg) and i prefer to have them not hate me. My best friends are throwing my baby shower (yay friends!), but they want my input on games. I'm the pregnant one now, so obviously i want a baby shower. Baby is the whole reason we're here) for dumb prizes (I mean. They're filled with people i don't know, and the time is spent playing dumb games (I'm not stealing your diaper pin because i hear you say baby. I'm just like the least cheesy/cutesy/mingle with strangers kind of person there is. Let me preface this by saying don't be offended if you love traditional baby showers.
